William Bunney, M.D. is a Distinguished Professor with the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, School of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). He has conducted investigations in the diagnosis, treatment, pathophysiology, genetics, and imaging studies of major psychiatric disorders including investigations relevant to the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of childhood mental illnesses. His initial work was carried out at the National Institute of Mental Health and then continued at the School of Medicine, University of California, Irvine. At UCI he directed a Conte Center for 10 years. Over the last 19 years, he has received NIH and Foundation funding for a human brain bank which includes high quality tissue from psychiatric disorders, and controls.
